In the last 25 years, the popularity of our
Island Acadian artists has gained tremendous momentum. On top of the list is Angèle
Arsenault who has an international audience in France, Belgium and Louisiana. Born in
Abram-Village, P.E.I. on October 1st, 1943, she recorded her first LP entitled Première
in 1974. In 1977, the LP Libre sold 300,000 copies and gave her immediate
international acclaim with the 1978 Félix Award. Her latest recognition is the song "Grand-Pré"
about the Acadian expulsion.
