Prince Edward Island's francophonie is composed of several regional communities, each one having its own characteristics, and all of them being more or less vulnerable because of their isolation and because of the distance that separates them from one another, on the one hand, and from large urban centres, on the other hand. The Island Francophone Telecommunity Project aims at providing these communities with a virtual space where distance is of no importance. From now on, an equal access to knowledge and information is assured. It is an essential step towards the creation of a Francophone knowledgeable society in Prince Edward Island.
